Now the unfortunate thing is its not even close to being done now becuase while I have been doing all of it, it’s a group project.  So where is the group? Well they aren’t there to say the least. I’m leading, heck spoon feeding them what I need done. I’ve done 80% I just need that other 20 from them, but that hasn’t happened and none of them even showed up for the last inclass meeting so that we could pull things together. Not one. If this was the real world they would be fired. As it is I now have to burn every once of oil I don’t have. Create a power point presentation, a Photoshop flier, 6 drawn models, two story boards, an actual waist coat, on top of doing 4 other final projects for other classes.

I bark big sometimes but this is for sure, while I will not be unproffessional I will also not let them stand and present with me next week. They did nothing, saddled me with everything, and for that they will share no modecrum of my hard labor. I don;t usually do this but I will give them a stern dressing down, in the most profeesional way I know how if they for one moment try to claim any responsibility for the presentation I put together. I can work in a group just fine when the group can follow orders and pull weight.  If that group can’t do that I will cut them loose and stand on my owe. So be it.

My Yummy Awards http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/03/08/my-yummy-awards/ http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/03/08/my-yummy-awards/#comments Tue, 09 Mar 2010 04:29:51 +0000 Robin Walker http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/?p=507 I have had the fortune of finding two new great places that you all may want to visit. Kat Scrap Studio and Cupcake Central.

Cupcake Central (818-48-sweet), located in Hollywood on Lankershim, is not only a treat for the tastebud but a major treat for the eyes. I wandered in one day thinking “mm cupcake sounds good” and was greated with big, fluffy, beautiful cupcakes in Red Velvet, Chocolate, and Vanilla. Smooth buttercream frosting  whipped and peaked like a scene off the candyland box and decorated with chocolates, fresh lemon, and ruby red strawberry, amongst many other creations. Then what should I see but specialty cupcakes. Wedding, team logos, sunflowers, and What?? Van Gough’s starry night! I had to have one made! And made it was: Hokusai’s Great Wave on red velvet. This wonderful mini masterpiece really made my day  and never was there a more fluffly and Zen cupcake that I have eaten.

Next I would like to highlight Kat Scrap Studio in Alta Dena (2455 N Lake Avenue, Alta Dena, CA 91001) . A lovely little scrapbook studio that is just opening up it carries everything from card/paper stock, velvet flowers, decorative straight pins, beads, buttons, yarn, and even works from local artists. This really is a wonderful shop for your scrap booking needs and then some. For those of you who are intrested some of my knitted bits and blankets are there for sale and later on I may be running  classes for making bags, blankets, and shawls.

I’m also enjoying my new serger so don’t be suprised if you see the inside of my work for a change not just the finished product.

Raven.

Ah the things I learn. http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/02/28/ah-the-things-i-learn/ http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/02/28/ah-the-things-i-learn/#comments Mon, 01 Mar 2010 07:49:57 +0000 Robin Walker http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/?p=503    So today I learned that my webpage does not auto update from my deviant art page :) , my wonderful friend who did all this gorgeous designing has been doing that for me. But in her infinte widom she has taught me some basics so I can update all on my own! She also helped me make new business cards! Poor thing has a coxi non beuano, yet she braved discomfor just to teach me how. Thank you Dawn

Secondly I have been out of a job for quite some time and it’s killing me, I don’t like taking money when I could be working for it. Dislike not paying debts, even small ones, in a timely manner, and just don’t like the overall stress. Ah the joy of living in SoCal and having a BA is that when you apply for low level positions suddenly I’m over qualified, I just want to work. Well I just have to keep pushing forward and looking at the commission boards a lot more. Can’t succeed unless you try.

And a big thanks goes out to my parents, you have taken me back into the house so I would have somewhere to live while I go to school, given me a bit of cash here and there so I can eat knowing I would never ask for it myself, and today you bought me a Singer overlock machine. I have needed a serger for quite some time not so that I can work with spandexes and put a professional finish on my pieces. Even though we rarely see things at the same level thanks for supportting me.

For all my readers out there thank you. I would like to encourage you to comment, critique, let me know what’s on your mind. I do commissions of all sorts: Clothing, costumes/cosplay, original ideas, bags, accessories; by all means suggests things you want to see. I’m hoping that next year I might be able to open a raffle/donation section where I can put original pieces up and raffle them off.  If you have contest suggestions, commissions to request, things you would like to know about me, speak your mind, I welcome it.

Blue Doll Repose http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/01/22/blue-doll-repose/ http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/01/22/blue-doll-repose/#comments Fri, 22 Jan 2010 16:11:18 +0000 Robin Walker http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/?p=462 As suggested by a friend, Dawn Wolf, Why not make something like from Rozen Maiden? So I did I took a look through and decided to make a dress loosely based on one of their outfits and then did a little retailor for me :D. I really like how it came out and I will have more pictures coming soon.

Pieces made:

Haitian Relief http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/01/17/haitian-relief/ http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/01/17/haitian-relief/#comments Mon, 18 Jan 2010 06:46:07 +0000 Robin Walker http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/?p=456 Everyone knows that recently there was a disaster in Haiti, a huge earthquake that shook this poor country to bits. Almost none of their buildings were retrofitted for these kind of quakes and the amount of damage from crumbled buildings, ruined streets, and now highly unsafe structures is unbelievable. But there is hope, the Haitian disaster relief funds that have come to help in all kinds of ways and using every kind of technology available. Donations via texts, pay-pal, and even Ebay.

So since I was just laid off and started school all in the same breath I have little give personally until I found out about Ebay and there relief effort. You can sell on ebay and dedicate a portion of the proceeds, up to 100%, to go to the Disaster Relief in Haiti, and that is what I am going to do.

Starting Monday I will list much of my Lolita collection on ebay, starting rather inexpensive, and a generous portion will be going to the Haitian fund. I will also be listing at least one tench coat, Vampire One, and possibly Nevermore as well.

I will let you all know which auctions are mine and I will probably end the bidding on Friday so that I can send those people who were so generous to donate their items ASAP. If the auctions go well I will add an extra tidbit in with the item won and I will donate extra to the Relief fund. Thank you so much for all your support and effort in this very trying time.

Cosplay: Need your Suggestions http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/01/04/cosplay-need-your-suggestions/ http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2010/01/04/cosplay-need-your-suggestions/#comments Mon, 04 Jan 2010 18:26:26 +0000 Robin Walker http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/?p=450 Ok I am looking for a new cosplay to do for myself. I’m not asking “who do I look like?” I’m asking for a suggestion of a cosplay to do for myself, something that will challenge my skill.

I’ve been going on a Victorian/Lolita/ fluffy dress kick so I would love suggestions from those kinds of animes. I do like a challenge so don’t be shy!

Thank you!!

Sick Seamstress http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2009/12/29/sick-seamstress/ http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/2009/12/29/sick-seamstress/#comments Tue, 29 Dec 2009 22:47:19 +0000 Robin Walker http://theartofdawn.com/sanguinethreads/?p=438 Well I was sick at the beginning of the week and sleeping like the dead – dayquil is making me feel a lot better.

Gosu Rori Pattern - Or as I call it Cluster**** my EYES. If you have the ADD, Glacoma, Motion sickness, Epilesy, Pregnancy, Back Problems, Vertigo, Schitzofrenia, Apathy, yeah don't look directly at the pattern.

So what will I be doing? Patterns. I am tracing patterns from a Japanese magazine Gosu Rori (Goth Loli) and I think I will be making dresses from that for a little bit. It’s a matter of order of operation. I only have pictures to go off of and I plan to follow them the best I can to work on order of how to put things together, sharpen those skills.

Also reading a great little webcomic (Buttersafe) I don’t usually like this style of drawing but they are some seriously funny blurbs. Also Loving on Zombie Ranch Comics done by Dawn Wolf and her Bits of Nothing! Good stuff all around.
